Klaus-Tschira-Award for Comprehensible Science 2016
Until February 29, 2016 young researchers can still apply for this year’s „KlarText“ prize, donated by the Klaus Tschira Foundation. Whoever earned their doctorate with an excellent evaluation between January 2015 and February 2016 and is capable of describing the content of the thesis paper in a clear and comprehensible manner can submit this written contribution, entering the race for one of the coveted awards. The winners receive 5000 Euros each as well as the opportunity of publishing in a popular scientific framework, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Among the winners of last year were 2 faculty II members: Astrophysicist Jenny Feige (PhD) had explained advancement of knowledge in deep sea astronomy very comprehensively in her article „Astronomie unter dem Meer“ („Submarine Astronomy“) whereas mathematician Timo Berthold (PhD) convinced the jury with his work called „Gut geraten“, demonstrating the everyday occurence of mathematical optimization.
