Collaborative Research Center 787 starts third funding period!

On January 1, 2016 the third funding period of the CRC 787 started. The Faculty II congratulates the chair, Professor Kneissl and all project heads on their great success!

At the end of 2015, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced the extension. The Collaborative Research Center on “Semiconductor Nanophotonics: Materials, Models, Devices” based at the Institute of Solid State Physics of Faculty II has been extended for an additional period of 4 years.

During the third funding period around 11 million Euros will go to the CRC in order to continue consolidating Berlin’s leadership role in the field of semiconductor photonic research in Germany and Europe.

Application examples are qubit and entangled photon emitters for ultra-high bit rate Ethernet as well as high brilliance IR and visible lasers for materials processing and applications in medical diagnostics.
