Media Prize in Mathematics 2017 for Ekaterina Eremenko


Ekaterina Eremenko wins the 2017 Media Prize of the Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (German Mathematical Society –  DMV) for her cinematic oeuvre. The DMV-Media Prize of € 5000 Euro is awarded for exceptional achievements in communicating mathematics to a broad audience. The prize for Ekaterina Eremenko acknowledges the extraordinary quality of her documentaries and portraits about mathematics and mathematicians. The jury found her work enthralling and able to show the fascination of mathematics to everybody.
Ekaterina Eremenko is both a mathematician and filmmaker. She is known for her films “Andrew Wiles”, "The Discrete Charm of Geometry“ and "Colors of Math“.  She lives in Berlin and is currently a member of the SFB/TRR 109 “Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics“ project "Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics“  at the Faculty II!

The DMV thanks the Walter de Gruyter Foundations for the prize money. The prize will be presented on 30th November 2017 in Berlin
