CAMINOS – Enhancing and Promoting Latin American Mobility

Lupe

CAMINOS seeks to deepen the Latin American higher education space by developing and disseminating a handbook on the organization of mobility within Latin America. The aim is not to create new mobility programs but rather to gain an overview of the existing programs, to compare structures and to strengthen and enhance these through the inclusion of experience gained in Europe. The focus is on structured mobility of students and researchers in the context of bilateral and multilateral agreements, which can contribute to deepening relations between universities.

The preparation of the handbook is divided into three phases:

  1. Defining the current situation regarding Latin American mobility programs, their practices and key stakeholders,
  2. A draft of the handbook divided into three thematic focus groups with accompanying study visits to EU universities and institutions,
  3. The pilot phase, where the participating Latin American partners (universities and associations) apply selected aspects of the handbook to the original mobility programs. Support is provided by an EU partner in each case.

The project is sponsored within the framework of the Erasmus + Key Action 2 Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education and the participants include universities and university associations from Latin America as well as the European Union. CAMINOS is coordinated by Oberservatorio de las Relaciones Unión Europea – América Latina (OBREAL) and runs form October 2016 to October 2019.
