Call for proposals for the establishment of interdisciplinary research groups in the new Interdisciplinary Center for Modeling and Simulation (IMoS)
The new research building for the
Interdisciplinary Center for Model- and Simulation-Based Research
(IMoS) is nearing completion at the end of 2022 on the East Campus of
the TU Berlin in Fasanenstraße (behind the new mathematics building,
which is also under construction). The goal of the 91b research
building, which is funded by the BMBF, is to create space and ambience
for productive interdisciplinary research that explores concrete
products or processes in numerous high-tech areas - building on
extensive mathematical modeling and analysis - using methods of
simulation, control and optimization.
It is planned that
numerous interdisciplinary research associations, such as special
research areas, research groups or graduate schools on the subject of
modeling, simulation and optimization will be housed in the IMoS
building. Therefore, the IMoS - Application Team calls upon all
departments of the TU Berlin to submit applications for the formation
and accommodation of interdisciplinary research teams on the topics of
modeling, simulation, and optimization by June 20, 2022
to the IMoS office via email to:
Volker Mehrmann
(acting IMoS spokesperson)

Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2: Current Information
Please
contact us preferably by e-mail or telephone.
As
of 19 April 2022 the Dean's Office and the team of the
Faculty-Service-Center will return to the office under strict
compliance with the hygiene regulations of the TU Berlin [2] and also
work mobile.
Wearing a mask is a highly effective measure for preventing personal infection and that of others. As such, TU Berlin continues to require all persons to wear at least a medical mask (preferably an FFP2 mask) in all University buildings.
- observe hygiene regulations [3] at all times
- remain home when displaying cold symptoms
- regularly test [4] (this includes vaccinated and recovered individuals)
- avoid unnecessary contact
Prof. Dr. Olga Smirnova receives ERC-Advanced Grant from the European Research Council
The Faculty II - Mathematics and Natural Sciences
congratulates Prof. Dr. Olga Smirnova on receiving an ERC-Advanced
Grant from the European Research Council on the topic "Ultrafast
molecular chirality: twisting light to twist electrons on ultrafast
time scale".
Eight of the prestigious Advanced Grants
of the European Research Council (ERC) with a total funding of up to
20 million euros go to researchers in Berlin. This was announced by
the ERC on Tuesday, April 26.
This funding instrument,
which provides for funding of up to 2.5 million euros each over a
funding period of up to 5 years, will be used to carry out pioneering
projects in Berlin at Freie Universität Berlin, Technische
Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Charité
Universitätsmedizin, the Max Delbrück Center, the German Rheumatism
Research Center Berlin, and Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. - including
in the fields of human genetics, neuroscience, and computer
graphics.
The ERC grants are the highest endowed European
research grants for individuals and at the same time the most
important European award for outstanding researchers. They have been
awarded annually since 2007 for the implementation of groundbreaking
research projects.
Welcome to summer semester 2022
On April 19,
2022, the lecture period for the summer semester 2022 begins at TU
Berlin.
We welcome you from April 11-14, 2022 with the week
for the start of the semester [5]!
Contact the experts of
the TU Berlin to clarify your concerns about the new semester
individually. During the week at the start of the semester, the
central contact points of the university offer extended office hours
for all students and newly enrolled students. An overview on the
central website at the start of the semester shows you the most direct
way to discuss your concerns.
At the start of the semester,
introductory events [6] are held for the respective degree programs
and introductory days [7] for newly enrolled international students at
the TU Berlin.
All information on the start of studies [8]
and on studying and teaching under pandemic conditions [9] can be
found on the central websites. Detailed information on courses can be
found in the TU Berlin course catalog [10].
Here you can
find further information on the Mathematics-Service [11], which offers
the mathematical modules for engineering, economics, etc.
Further information about the Chemistry and Physics Service can be
found at ISIS [12] (Information System for Instructors and
Students).
You would like to attend courses of Faculty II
as a secondary student [13]? Find out more about how to apply for a
side audience and contact marcel.koenig#at#tu-berlin.de by e-mail with
the completed form [14].
Please regularly read the
information provided by the TU Berlin crisis team [15] and the
specific information on the topics of studies [16] in general as well
as examinations [17].
Please inform yourself regularly
about the latest status of conditions regarding studying and teaching
under pandemic conditions, as the information situation can change
constantly and at short notice.
Appointments of new Professors
We warmly welcome
Prof. Dr. Han Sun
Since
February 15, 2022 she represents the Chair
"Structural Chemistry and Computational Biophysics" at the
Institute of Chemistry.
