Einstein Foundation Awards New and Extends Fellowships

Last week the Einstein Stiftung Berlin  announced the new Fellows, which will start in January 2018. There will be four new Fellows at TU Berlin’s Faculty II – Mathematics and Natural Sciences and two Fellows were granted extensions of their grants.
Eduard Feireisl  (Czech Academy of Sciences) is one of the worldwide leading experts in mathematical fluid mechanics. He will collaborate with his colleagues in the SFB 910  at the Institute of Theoretical Physics.
Peter Schröder  (California Institute of Technology) is best known for his work in computer graphics linking mathematical, physical und geometric theories with practical applications. He will contribute to the SFB/TR 109  at the Institute of Mathematics.
In addition, the two Einstein Visiting Fellowships for Bernd Sturmfels  and Rahul Pandharipande  (both Berlin Mathematical School ) were granted an extension for two years each.
With the support of the Berlin Mathematical School John Henry Maddocks  (EPFL) and Edriss Titi  (Texas A&M University) will also come to Berlin. The will spend their Einstein Visiting Fellowships at the Institute of Mathematics at FU Berlin.
