Collaborative Research Center 910 starts second funding period!

Lupe

The second funding period of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 910 started on January 1, 2015. The Faculty II congratulates the chair, Professor Schöll, the co-chair Professor Klapp, and all project heads on their great success! In November, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced that the CRC 910 was granted the second funding period. The CRC will receive roughly nine million Euros for the next four years to fund their research program in "Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems:
Theoretical methods and concepts of application".

The CRC is based at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of Faculty II and brings together an interdisciplinary team of applied mathematicians, theoretical physicists, and computational neuroscientists. They aim to develop novel theoretical approaches and methods of control, and to demonstrate the application of these concepts to a selection of innovative systems ranging from condensed matter to biological systems. These systems involve multiple space scales, typically from nanometer to micrometer and millimeter, and they involve quantum as well  as classical dynamics.
